The Smelly Walk


We want to walk.

We want to smell.

We want a smelly walk.

 





















I can smell well. 

My nose is good.






















I smell a bug on a leaf.

I smell the grass.

I smell it too.

I smell you.

You do not smell so good.

                         No. I smell very well.

Maybe you smell well

but you do not smell  good!

Sleepyhead and Early Bird

"Wake up, Sleepyhead," said Early Bird.
"No more sleep!"

"Sleep is good," said Sleepyhead.




"We can have dog dinner," said Early Bird.

 "Dinner is good," said Sleepyhead.





"We can go outside," said Early Bird.

"Outside is good," said Sleepyhead.




"We can get the paper
and He will give us treats," said Early Bird.

 "Treats are good," said Sleepyhead.




"She will give us peanut-butter bones," said Early Bird.

"Bones are good," said Sleepyhead.




"We can take a nice walk," said Early Bird.

"A walk is always good, : said Sleepyhead.



"She will brush us and pet us,
and we can have a nap," said Early Bird.

"A nap is good," said Sleepyhead.



"Soon it will be time for bed," said Early Bird.

"Sleep is good," said Sleepyhead. 
"Good night."

A Recipe for Flowerpot Tomato Sauce

When your flowerpot garden grows enough tomatoes

wait until they are ripe, then pick them carefully.

                                                     

           

Chop garlic, onions, and peppers (red, green, or yellow).

Heat a little olive oil in a pan.

Cook the veggies for a few minutes.

Chop the tomatoes and add them to the pot.

Toss in a little salt and pepper, and some herbs from Grandmom's garden.

Cook and stir this mixture.  It is starting to smell delicious!

Cover and simmer for 30 minutes. How many minutes are left?

                              

It is OK to let someone taste the sauce.  Grandpa said it was yummy!

Six plum tomatoes made one cup of sauce.

I froze the sauce in two zipper baggies.

Your sauce is waiting for you in the freezer.  What shall we make with it? Spaghetti with meat sauce? Italian chicken nuggets? A Will-sized pizza? YUM.

Spring Surprises

Now it is Spring.
The weather is warm. 
There has been some rain.
Did you see the full moon?

Flowers are blooming.

There were some surprises in the garden this morning:

We planted the top of a pineapple after we ate the sweet fruit. Now a tiny new fruit is growing.

Our lemon tree has started to bloom. The flowers smell so good! Now the blooms are falling off, and tiny lemons are starting to grow.

With warm days and cool nights, baby tomatoes grow after yellow flowers are pollinated by bees.

It's not only plants that are glad it is Spring.  Red-winged Blackbirds are back, nesting in the catttails. Grackles are busy; the males are showing off their beautiful tails. And a Downy Woodpecker is pecking at the hole in the tree near the patio.

You can make a rabbit,

Or a funny man.

Make up a story with your shadow characters.

                               My Shadow

I have a little shadow that goes in and out with me,
